Headshots that work on LinkedIn

LinkedIn is where a corporate headshot is seen most. Every image we deliver includes the crops it needs, framed for the circle, with a background that reads at the size of a thumbnail.

What a LinkedIn headshot needs

Three things, in order: a face that sits in the circle, a background that still reads when the image is the size of a fingernail, and a look that matches the person's colleagues. The first two are technical and are built into the Standard: the eye line is locked, the crop is square, and the backdrop is a tone that separates the face at any size. The third is why the firm books a day rather than sending everyone to a studio one at a time.

The formats, delivered for everyone

Every sitter's gallery includes the square at 1,600 pixels for the profile, the 4:5 at 1,600 by 2,000 for the firm's page and for posts, and a 16:9 crop for banners and screens, all finished to the same specification as the website and print files. Nobody has to crop anything.

Six questions every buyer asks

What does it cost?

GBP 2,950 plus VAT for a Standard Day of up to 40 people. Everything is priced by the day and sold to the firm; nothing is sold per person.

How long is each person away from their desk?

Ten minutes. Five or six of them are in front of the camera; the rest is walking there, approving the frames on screen and walking back.

A day at your office

What does the room need?

A meeting room of about four by three metres with two sockets, and battery lighting if there are none. The studio is up in 30 minutes and down in 20, and nothing is left behind at lunchtime.

The room specification

How quickly do the images come back?

Proofs of the approved frames on the day. The full finished set, in every placement format, through the sitter portal within ten working days.

What finishing involves

What happens when someone joins next month?

Their session is matched to your written Standard, at the next programme day or at a catch-up session, so the new image sits in the set without looking new.

How the programme works

Who else has used you?

Corporate headshot work to date includes a global employment platform, a software company and a multi-family office; a firm is named only once it has agreed in writing. The Managing Director's portrait work has been exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery and her commercial clients include Formula E, Porsche and Aston Martin.

For the firm's own page

A firm's LinkedIn page is read by candidates and clients the same way its website is. The Standard means the people it features look like one firm, the motion portrait gives it something that moves, and the quarterly programme keeps the set current as the firm changes.

Questions people ask

What size should a LinkedIn profile photo be?

We deliver a square at 1,600 by 1,600 pixels and a 4:5 at 1,600 by 2,000, both sRGB JPEGs under 8 MB. The square is the one most people upload; the 4:5 is for the firm's page and for posts.

Why does the face need to be centred?

The profile photo is shown as a circle. A face that sits off-centre or too high loses the top of the head or the chin in the crop. Our Standard locks the eye line so every face sits in the circle the same way.

Do you provide LinkedIn banners?

A 16:9 crop is in the placement set and can carry the firm's brand banner if the firm supplies the artwork. We do not design banners.
